$100 Note
Design: Harry Williamson
Date: 1984

Harry Williamson said this of his superbly refined $100 note, released in 1984: ‘This design evolved through a series of visuals, trying to combine the various facets of visual information: Mawson’s personality and what he stood for, his Antarctic environment – the colour palette and the various bits of visual representation, the constraints of marrying and registering three different printing techniques – letterpress, offset and intaglio, the position of the watermark, the requirements of security printing, the framework of tradition and the expectation of what a currency note should look like’.
